MetaMask is an extension for accessing Ethereum enabled distributed applications, or "Dapps" in your normal Chrome browser! The extension injects the Ethereum web.

While MetaMask is published on multiple browser extension stores, and these stores benefit from auto-updates, there are reasons you might want to install a copy of MetaMask manually.
